Strategy Meeting in Napoli

September 23-24, 2009

The ANAEE project  aims at developing distributed research infrastructure across Europe for studying:
  • the impacts of anthropogenic forces and global change on the evolution on main continental ecosystems and on the services they provide to human societies,
  • the role of these ecosystems in mitigating environmental deterioration due to human activities.

ANAEE has been recognized by the ESFRI Committee as an emerging project and is now in the phase of Design Study.

The objectives of the ANAEE Strategic Meeting in Naples will be:
  • To present to the different European national research institutions and agencies the interest of the proposed distributed research infrastructure for structuring the actual fragmented scientific community on continental biosphere across Europe
  • To give a blue print of this future infrastructure in order to play a strategic role in enhancing European research capability within the domain of continental biosphere;
  • To initiate a large consortium of national research institutions and agencies to support this ANAEE initiative;
  • To establish an integrated overall infrastructure with other ESFRI projects such as LIFEWATCH and ICOS in order to achieve synergies and avoid dispersion of efforts and redundancies;
  • To analyse the international context and possible coordination with overseas organizations.
