In order to achieve these objectives it is necessary to aggregate the different research teams in Europe and at convincing the different national research institutions that sharing common experimental facilities, common data bases and modelling and computing facilities will have a profound impact in structuring the European research community.Reaching excellence in environmental and ecology sciences will be only possible by highly-coordinated national initiatives at European level.

To achieve these objectives, the ANAEE DS has to organize workshops, meetings and working groups with the participation of a large research community on Terrestrial Ecology in Europe and also of national research institutions and agencies susceptible to support the development of such a distributed infrastructure.

A first group of actions for developing and spreading the ANAEE concept will be organized through scientific workshops and web communication. A first workshop will be organised at the beginning of the ANAEE DS for present and discuss the ANAEE concept to a large scientific audience. This first workshop will allow the identification of the potential ANAEE partners and the specification of the scientific needs in term of experimental infrastructure for ecosystem studies. This workshop will help the starting of three working groups for studying the specification and the feasibility of each of the three components of the ANAEE Infrastructure: ECOTRONs, LTEPs, and Modelling Centers. At the same time some meetings will be organized in order to determine interfaces and collaborations with other EU programmes.

 

A third group of action will be in charge of contacting the different national research institutions and agencies to discuss with them about the strategic interest for supporting ANAEE infrastructures and for developing a trans-national cooperation. A strategy meeting will be organized with these stakeholders.

At the end of the ANAEE DS a final workshop will be organised for presenting and spreading the conclusions of all the working groups. The design of a future ANAEE Infrastructure will be presented in the final report and a consortium of potential future partners will be identified.

The ANAEE Design Study is organised in Four Workpackages (WP). Three of them are Support Action and the last one is an administrative Workpackage. Please find below the detail of these WP.
