A workshop meeting to determine the specifications of the “in natura” Experimental Platforms of the ANAEE design study program  organize by Dr Abad CHABBI  will be held on March 17-18, 2009 in Lusignan (near Poitiers). These platforms aim will be to provide the data and model parameters necessary to predicts European ecosystems services under various future environmental and socio-economic scenarios. The objective of this meeting is to discuss which factors will be relevant to manipulate on a long-term basis in the coming decades (land use, climate change, atmospheric chemistry …), at which scales these manipulations could be done (plot, small catchments …), and how to study interactions between factors. Additionally, the question of coupling scales of time between process with short time steps and processes with longer time steps will be discussed.
At the meeting should also be discussed which research and development steps are needed before building these platforms, both in term of the equipment for the environmental manipulations and in term of the instrumentation needed to measure ecosystem processes.
An additional objective of the meeting is to start listing the representative ecosystem types on which these platforms should be installed, together with the research teams capable to develop them and to tentatively secure funds from their national funding institutions.
